Job Summary:
The Technical Field Instructor II supports the delivery of training and technical support for both internal and customer participants, with a focus on enabling One Field Services business priorities in areas such as safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role involves supporting instructors in technical training setups, troubleshooting equipment, maintaining lab facilities, and ensuring smooth execution of training sessions. The position will also assist with lab and classroom logistics, equipment maintenance, and participant oversight.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of lab and classroom equipment for various training sessions on gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and/or combined cycle systems.
- Provide logistical and technical support during training sessions, ensuring readiness of materials, tools, and equipment for on-time class starts.
- Support instructors in hands-on lab activities and ensure participant adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain lab equipment and systems, including troubleshooting and coordinating repairs as needed.
- Implement 5S and housekeeping practices in labs and classrooms, ensuring a clean, organized environment conducive to learning.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and materials disposition.
- Communicate equipment unavailability to the scheduling team promptly.
- Support the design and development of new training materials, including maintaining and updating equipment and instructional tools.
- Assist in inventory management, including tracking and maintaining training equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Co-teach and assist in delivering training sessions as assigned.
- Perform light housekeeping duties and logistical tasks such as classroom setup, demobilization, organizing food services, and managing supplies.
- Provide customer care and coordination for larger training projects, including PPE, transport, and event organization.
- Support miscellaneous training tasks such as creating welcome letters, processing workflows, managing databases, and class surveys.
- Follow company policies and procedures during the execution of training programs, ensuring participants do the same.
- May require travel, working holidays, weekends, or overtime based on field assignments.
- Other duties may be assigned based on organizational priorities.
- Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical / scientific fields (or at least 3 years of equivalent professional experience in the relevant technology in installations, operations, maintenance and/or repairs).
- Minimum of 3 years of field service or engineering experience in relevant technology related to installation, operation, maintenance or repairs.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous experience as a technical instructor or in adult learning delivery.
- Experience in energy field service, field engineering, installation, and commissioning of turbine products (GE or similar) and excitation, controls, mechanical systems.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a proven ability to produce and deliver results.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-starter with experience managing multiple tasks, with a curiosity and lean mindset.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies or concepts to daily tasks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
